FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who is actually performing the KINO Draws?

The 20 numbers of each draw are generated from a Random Number Generator system (RNG) developed by CTI (Computer Technology Institute & Press) of Patras for OPAP.

Are there any numbers that come up more frequently than others?

CTI's RNG system ensures that all 80 numbers have the same chances to occur in any draw regardless of their previous occurrence or delay history.

Is OPAP aware of what is "played" in each draw and draws the 20 numbers accordingly?

The 20 numbers of each draw are generated from the Random Number Generator system (RNG) developed by CTI of Patras for OPAP. The participating slips of each draw are filed – through the terminals of the agencies – in the Data Processing Center (DPC) of OPAP. On the other hand, the draw is performed remotely through the RNG system of CTI. This way, there is no communication between the numbers that are drawn and the slips that are participating in each draw. In other words, there is no way that the RNG system of CTI knows the slips that are filed in the DPC of OPAP. An additional and definitive security measure is the presence of the dedicated Control Committee (set by the Ministries of Economics and Culture) which controls and verifies that there is no interference in the numbers of the draw, the participating slips and the winning columns.

The system knows what is played and draws the less "preferred" numbers?

Kindly refer to the answer in question: 3.1

Each draw is held 10-15 seconds after the expiry of the participation deadline of the draw. Why is this the case?

The 20 numbers of each draw are produced instantly at the expiry of the 5' betting period. The production of thes20 numbers precedes the transmission on the monitors of the agencies due to the specifications of the transmitting system. At all times, the agent has the winning combination right after the expiry of the betting period, while the player can check whether his slip has won or not even before the realization of the draw, using the dedicated ticket checking devices within the agencies since the system is already updated with the winning combination of the draw.

What is the taxation policy on the winnings of KINO?

The taxation of winnings depends on the net winning amount (after excluding the betting amount) per column. More specifically:
Winning per column*: 0-100 € ⇨no taxation
Winning per column*: 100 – 500,01€ ⇨15% (for the amount exceeding 100€)
Winning per column*: over 500,01€ ⇨20% (for the amount exceeding 500€)
*refers to the net winning amount after excluding the participating amount

Why don't we see any winners for KINO?

The number of KINO winning columns per KINO game (1 to 12) is displayed in OPAP's site. Additionally the Statistics screens present in the agencies, announce a number of information for winners. In cases of high winning amounts (from 50.000€ and over) we use dedicated screens in the agencies that mention the winning combination (i.e. 10 out of 10), the total winning amount the draw number, the draw date and the region of the agency that the winning slip was played. With reference to the slip, this is property of the player and he may use it upon his will. OPAP respects the identity of the players and their rights to keep it secret.

In KINO, I can select from 1 up to 12 numbers (depending on the game I choose to play) but I still pay 0,5€ regardless of how many numbers I eventually select. How is this possible?

The special thing about KINO is that the player has the "freedom" to choose how much he wants to claim for his bet. Each one of the 12 games has a different pay-table that is related to the probability of occurrence for every winning combination. So the player weights his chances and his expectations and decides how much he wants to bet and how much he wishes to win.
For example, If you seek 3 numbers out of the 20 (game 3) of the draw, your winnings can reach up to 25 times your bet (in case you have 3 correct matches out of the 3 numbers you picked). If you seek 7 numbers, your winnings can reach up to 5000 times your bet for 7 correct matches but is limited to 1 time your bet if you have 3 correct matches (3 out of 7). Finally, if you seek 12 numbers (game 12), you can claim up to 500.000 times your bet* (for 12 out of 12) while if you manage to have 3 correct matches (3 out of 12) you have no winnings.
In the below table you get a quick description of how the amounts you claim change per game, but also what is needed in order to win for each of the 12 games of KINO

What happens in case the draw system fails? Is there any backup?

The consistent, continuous and trouble-free abundancy of KINO's RNG system is a top priority for OPAP. Therefore, all servers dedicated to the draw process, are redundant meaning that there is always a backup server to cover the primary server in case of amufunction.
